In October and November we processed pumpkin shells and hearts into substrate. We fed that to BSF. Although the substrate looked very wet, it was not room temperature, the granularity seemed too big and nutritionally questionable, the results were excellent. At the end of the rearing period the larvae had grown into healthy size. Analysis will be coming shortly, which will give us a clear indication, whether this particular by-product is suitable for scaled production. After all, in pumpkin season there are a lot of pumpkin shells!
