An article published in Maaleht on November 6, 2025, featured KLAREVA’s work to develop an automated black soldier fly production system in Estonia. The piece highlighted our goal to turn food industry by-products into a valuable source of high-quality protein for poultry, fish, and pig feed—reducing dependence on imported soy and fishmeal while lowering agriculture’s environmental footprint. The process not only creates circular value from food residues but also produces frass, a nutrient-rich fertilizer that supports sustainable farming.
The article also covered our collaboration with the Estonian University of Life Sciences to study sustainable insect cultivation methods and with AIRE and the Tallinn University of Applied Sciences to develop automation and AI solutions for industrial-scale production. We currently source side streams from Orkla’s Põltsamaa factory and are preparing to scale our model internationally, keeping research and development anchored in Estonia.
